Good question.
I surf all winter;Formula, slalom and wave. All the kitesurfers use the drysuit so I tried it to see if it works for windsurfing too.
It does not.
1. When you go formulasailing pumping with a 10.7 you produce a lot of heat which you can´t get rid of. That mean you get overheated and can`t go on competing and get dissy.
2. If you are out there in plus 12m/s on a slalom or a waveboard and have to swim for your board after a crash you might easily get problems because your swimming ability in a drysuit is not very good, you simply cant swim fast enough to catch up with your gear.
Kitesurfers do probably not use as many hps as formulasurfers and does not have to swim for their gear and I think this is why they dont have the same problems with the drysuit as wee do.
Some drysuits are breathable also the one I tried. But it is not "sweathable".
