Segelabstufung 20% oder ehr nur 15%

Hallo zusammen!

Hätte mal ne Frage zur Segelabstufung. Wollte mir so 3 Segel zwischen 5,5qm und 8,5qm zulegen. Ist da eine Abstufung von 20% (1,2) ok? Oder ist das zuviel?

Also 8,6qm - 7,2qm - 6,0qm oder vielleicht 8,0qm - 6,6qm -5,5qm

I sail smaller sizes in wave conditions: 3.5, 4.0, 4.7, 5.3 and 6.2. The gap between the last two is not too big. There is still good overlap in windrange, meaning that I cam use my 5.3 before my 6.2 is at the top of it's range. Last week I sailed on Kos and when I switched from 6.2 to 6.7 because of declining windspeeds, I hardly noticed the extra power of the 0.5 m2 and regretted not to have taken 7.2 or 7.5 straight away. A gap from 5.5 to 6.6 therefore seems not extreme to me.

Have a look at the wind range tables of some producers as well, so you get a picture of the overlap. E.g. NP:

It's important to have some overlap, so you can sail properly powered with a smaller sail before your bigger sail gets overpowered in the gusts. But there is no use to have all the small steps in the sailranges of the various supplyers, unless you have excess of money and don't mind carrying lot's of stuff around! ;-)

ist ne Geschmacks- und Geldfrage. Je enger die Abstufung desto komfortabler lässt es sich fahren. Allerdings wird es dadurch auch teurer und du musst mehr schleppen!

Du solltest aber auch den Segeltyp beachten Freerace- Racesegel haben ne sehr große Windrange. Frühgleit/ Freeridesegel eher eine geringere..

Ich persönlich hasse es zuviel zeug dabei zu haben... (Je mehr Zeug desto schwieriger die frage was baue ich auf? ;)
Außerdem würde in die Rechnung noch die Masten und Gabelfrage miteinbeziehen. Je nach abstufung brauchst nen Mast/Gabel mehr oder weniger...

Meine Flachwasserabstufung:

Race 8,6
Race 7,8
Atlas 5,4 (manchmal auch Atlas 5,8)

Wenn's mit dem 7,8er richtig heftig wird, dann ist's mit dem 5,4er (5,8er) genau richtig. Allerdings nicht mehr mit einem Slalombrett sondern einem FSW.
