Gu Screw

Category: Waves
Level of difficulty: Level 6 (from 6)

Description

Gu screw is the term for a jump in windsurfing: A 180-degree turn jumped as an exit at the end of a wave ride to land behind the breaking wave.

From the bottom turn, you carve towards the lip with the clew open and try to use the power of the wave for the rotational impulse when jumping off. The sail is kept horizontal so that the mast does not catch on the lip of the wave. Tighten your arms and legs to accelerate the rotation.
