ORION - Montreal's Ice Surfer

Winter surfing with a difference. Orion Miller rides river waves on the St. Lawrence River, even at -30°C. In the middle of Montreal lies the spot Habitat 67, where the ground creates a standing wave. In winter, Orion faces a special challenge, because it's not just the low air temperature that poses a risk. It's the ice floes of various sizes that cross his path. From large ice floes to crushed ice that piles up like a long drink and forms pack ice, sometimes over head high.
