Shifty
Shaka into Pushloop by Balz Müller
Many windsurfing moves have their own names, including the shifty. This jump was created in freestyle windsurfing to push the boundaries of what is possible with new rotations or combinations of different moves in order to achieve higher scores in a contest.
The shifty is a frontside rotation jumped upwind with the sail laid flat, in which the sail is pulled up abruptly and the power of the changing airflow initiates a horizontal rotation around the mast, so that you reach a body position similar to the highest flight position of a pushloop.
The jump is initiated in the same way as a Shaka. Both jumps should be mastered before you start with the shifty. Here you can see a shifty from Balz Müller in slow motion.
