Beach Start
Let the sail lift you onto the board
This is how the beach start works in deeper water. If the water is waist- to chest-deep, you need a little more power in the sail for the lift onto the board.
Similar to a water start, the back leg is placed on the board, with the heel forming the contact point. The nose of the board is aligned on a crosswind course by exerting pressure on the mast base.
The climb onto the board is achieved by raising the sail (stretch the front arm, pull the back arm in a controlled manner) and actively pushing off the ground with the front leg. At this moment, you have two contact points through which you can build up downward pressure to get into a standing position. The front hand pulls the boom down (pressure on the mast base), the rear leg rests on the tail.
The beach start allows you to get onto the windsurf board quickly, even in deep water. With this technique, you are almost ready for the water start - a good preliminary exercise.
