Flow Style - Caesar Finies

NeilPryde/Starboard team rider Caesar Finies tricks on Bonaire on a long board with a small sail in flow style in light winds. He performs incredibly sensitive tricks with his equipment in flowing movements.

I actually came across this trick by chance. After a session, Thino Dornelas had taken the rig off the board and put it upside down on the board.

I wanted to do the same thing, but with a bit of a twist. During the turn, the rig slipped out of my fingers, flew up and then came back, almost landing on my head.

I then wanted to develop this as a trick. It took me a really long time to reproduce the rotation. With the help of my friends on the beach (Ronald, Zeno, Kiri, Tonky, Taty, Bjorn) who helped work out the details, I now know how it works.

It works best in 13 to 16 knots. I like to use my 4.0 Zone. So it should be a small sail. It should never be bigger than 4.5 square metres!

low luff tension (no loose leech)
look at the horizon
try to take precise steps and stay close to the base of the mast
